About this tool
The CHA₂DS₂-VASc score is a clinical prediction rule for estimating the risk of stroke in patients with non-rheumatic atrial fibrillation (AF), a common and serious heart arrhythmia.
Clinical Guidelines
Current ESC and AHA/ACC guidelines recommend using this score to determine whether a patient should receive oral anticoagulation (OAC) therapy.
- Score 0 (Men) / 1 (Women): Low risk. No OAC recommended.
- Score 1 (Men) / 2 (Women): Moderate risk. OAC should be considered.
- Score ≥ 2 (Men) / ≥ 3 (Women): High risk. OAC is recommended.
